This is a rare February 8th, 1940 broadside (single page playbill) from the Post-Broadway engagement of William Shakespeare's tragedy "HAMLET" at the Davidson Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. (The revival opened December 4th, 1939 at the Forty-Fourth Street Theatre in New York City and ran for only 40 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred MAURICE EVANS in the title role and featured CARMEN MATHEWS as "Ophelia", MADY CHRISTIANS as "The Queen" and HENRY EDWARDS as "The King". Others in the cast included LAUREN GILBERT, JOHN McQUADE, DONALD CAMERON, DONALD RANDOLPH, RAYMOND JOHNSON, SYDNEY SMITH, WALTER WILLIAMS, FREDERIC CARNEY, KURT RICHARDS, JOHN BARCLAY, HENRY JONES, EMMETT ROGERS, RHYS WILLIAMS, HOWARD WIERUM, JACKSON PERKINS, ALFRED PASCHALL, GEORGE KEANE and MAURY TUCKERMAN .....
