Dickenson County, formed in 1880 from parts of Buchanan County, Russell County, and Wise County, is Virginia's youngest county. It was named for
William J. Dickenson, delegate to the Virginia General Assembly from Russell County, 1859–1861, 1865–1867, and 1877-1882.
The county is divided into five supervisor districts: Clintwood, Ervinton, Kenady, Sandlick, and Willis.
Other communities include towns of Clinchco, Clintwood, Haysi and Nora.

Legibility varies, depending on handwriting of census taker, quality of ink used, paper damage
over the years, quality of the scanning process.
Different from transcribed census records, these contain all information collected by the census taker.
These also give a sense of relatives and neighbors living nearby.
Many of the files also include records for other Virginia counties.
An index for all included counties is added for your convenience.

Reader. If your system security prevents the CD from auto loading, just double-left click the Autorun file on the CD.
