This is a rare autographed October 1971 programme (playbill) from the West End revival of theJEROME KERN and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy "SHOW BOAT"
at the Adelphi Theatre in London. (
The Original Broadway production
opened December 27th, 1927 at New York's Ziegfeld Theatre and ran for 575 performances. This revival opened July 29th, 1971 and ran for 909 performances
.) ..... This masterwork by JEROME KERN and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II remains one of the greatest of all musicals and possibly the greatest musical theatre score to date. The story starts in the 1880's on one of the many American riverboats that featured traveling shows.
