This is 50's rock at it's earliest!! Chuck was one of rock and roll's founding fathers, he was at the start of it all.. a true rock and roll pioneer!! He was pretty much along side of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Hailey, Johnny Burnette and maybe a couple others. This guy was rockin' a good 8 years before the Beatles even came around! Not only was he one of the very first, he also wrote all his own material. In the early 1950's, he was influenced by T-Bone Walker and got his break in 1955 when he went to Chicago and met Muddy Waters. Muddy told him to contact Leonard Chess of Chess records and the rest is history.
This is an early to mid 60's pressing of this album. It is fairly heavy and rigid vinyl with the 60's style paste over cover, all of which are like the mono first press. Actually, it has the exact same cover as the 1st press. The only difference is they added a little white sticker (on the cover, under the shrink) on the front that mentions 'electronically altered for stereo' and it weighs 23 grams less than a mono. So at that point, they were just putting a stereo sticker on the front of the 1st press mono cover. For the 2nd pressing, they did not use a sticker, the stereo part was printed directly on the cover. So it's really hard to say which label this has but even if it's the orange and turquoise label, this is still a very rare find. It's as close as you will get as finding a

first press of this album is basically impossible. If you ever did, it could likely fetch well over ,000. So for one that looks and feels basically the same, this is a deal!
This album is gorgeous and NM-. Barely any wear, only the slightest bit on a corner or two and only very light surface rub on shrink. There is a slight manufacturing flaw, a 1" wrinkle at the bottom right corner. Otherwise, solid edges, corners and spine.
Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:
Charles Edward Anderson "Chuck" Berry (born October 18, 1926) is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, and one of the pioneers of rock and roll music. With songs such as "Maybellene" (1955), "Roll Over Beethoven" (1956), "Rock and Roll Music" (1957) and "Johnny B. Goode" (1958), Chuck Berry refined and developed rhythm and blues into the major elements that made rock and roll distinctive, with lyrics focusing on teen life and consumerism and utilizing guitar solos and showmanship that would be a major influence on subsequent rock music
