Description
Embossed patriotic Postcard of the State Capitol in Carson City Nevada showing the Seal of Nevada, the American Flag and the seal of the United States of America. pm 1911.card was printed in Germany.
A point to note and what makes this postcard unique is that is pre-WWI and for having the Nevada subject matter but printed in Germany, it was originally mailed in Austria-Hungary, which at the time was a dual monarchy of the Austrian Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary. I believe that while cards may have been made in Germany at the time, they were available to locals for use in Europe rather than strictly being sent to the US. Otherwise, it would suggest, the sender carried it with him from the US.
Additionally, It has two 1908 5 Heller (Austrian) stamps depicting Emperor Franz Joseph I. It is also addressed not to someone in the US, but to a priest in Rome and the writing is in English. Yet, the postcard, somehow made its way to the US. I am sure it may even have a further interesting history if one researched the sender and recipient.
Publisher S. Langsdorf NY, NY made in Germany.
The red border is a panel intended to show all edges of the postcard.
If you see spots on the scan, they are a result of the resolution of the scan and not on the card itself, its a polarization effect.
