This is a rare playbill from the week of June 29th, 1953 for the Summer Stock engagement of the RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical "CAROUSEL" at the Lakewood Theatre in Skowhegan, Maine ..... The musical starred BARBARA COOK as "Carrie Pepperidge", PAT NORTHROP as "Julie Jordan", TOM RIEDER as "Billy Bigelow" and DONALD BLACKEY as "Enoch Snow" and included JANE MORRISSEY, SCOTT MERRILL, JAN SHERWOOD, MONA TRITSCH, KENNETH LeROY and ANN BARRY ..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN 2nd based on the play "Liliom" by FERENC MOLNAR. (The two collaborated on "Oklahoma!", "The King and I", "South Pacific", "Flower Drum Song" and "The Sound of Music" among others); Sets designed by PERCY NUTTING and BENJAMIN GILBERT; Costumes designed by JOE CROSBY; Choreographed by JUNE GRAHAM; Directed by WILLIAM HAMMERSTEIN; Produced by THE LAKEWOOD PLAYERS .....
